Tomorrow is the day! I can hardly wait. I signed up for two seminars:
Intro to Object Source Lighting with James and Cathy Wappel
and
Urban Decay with Nathan Comase
I think I already know James Wappel. I think I was in a Blood Bowl league with him about three years ago. I guess I'll find out on Friday.

Thousand Sons Aspiring Champion Update
I just started the first layer of gold last night. I'm still not super happy with my skill with metallic paints. Still, this Aspiring Champion for my first Thousand Sons Unit is coming along pretty well. I've been making an effort to put the metallics on in thin layers.
Here's something else I did last night:
This is my first attempt at priming with guesso. The weather is getting warmer, but it's still not ideal conditions to spray prime. I checked on it this morning and it looks like the guesso dried in a nice even coat. I'm excited to try to paint over it, but you're supposed to wait at least 24 hours.

AWC is Dead, Long Live AWC
Due to the Adeptus Windy City(AWC) website being out of date and as of late, inundated with spam, the administrators of the site have shut it down. I know; I'm as shocked as you are.
I was pretty disappointed, but luckily, they have temporally re-instituted the forums.
AWC is probably one of my most visited websites. It's the place where I've met almost all of my gaming friends. I was sad to see it go but I'm even more excited to see the shape it takes in the future.
Also, Adepticon is just three days away. Three days! Three days until I can get my fill of Forge World resin goodness! And Seminars!
I'm signed up for a class on object source lighting and another on "Urban Decay". I'll report back.

Thousand Sons Aspiring Champion Update
Here is another WIP photo of my Thousand Sons Aspiring Champion/ sorcerer. There is still a lot to do and I don't think the unit is going to be ready for Adepticon. If I rushed, I could probably get them done, but I've spent a lot of time on them and wouldn't want to mar them with a rush treatment at the end.
Also, there are only Seven days until Adepticon! I'm going to be there all day Friday and I'm incredibly excited. If you're going, you read this blog, and I don't know you already, make sure to let me know. It's always cool to meet new people in the hobby.

Update and Plans
My first squad of Thousand Sons only needs to have it's chapter badges painted on and their bases painted. I'm hoping I can have them done for Adepticon because I want to enter them into the Rogue Demon painting competition. I'm not sure if I will be able o do it as the Aspiring Champion still needs a lot of work. Still, if I am done, I'm going to enter them. I'll update as I get closer to Adepticon.
Speaking of Adepticon, I'll be there all day Friday. If you plan to be there and want to talk shop, shoot me an e-mail. There might be a chance for some pick-up games, but I'm not planning on it unless someone wants to set it up before hand.
Also, last night I finally got my hands on one of GW's new building kits. I don't have much in the way of a product review except to say that I'm amazed at how heavy the plastic is. I'm also still amazed at the price. Generally speaking, terrain is pretty expensive for pieces that aren't particularly detailed. These Cities of Death building are great quality and pretty affordable. OK,I'm going to stop sounding like a GW stooge and move on...
I also got some new Warmachine stuff. More on this in the future...
One final thing, I have reached a new level of nerdiness. I bought dice that match my army. I ordered these Chessex dice in blue and gold. Perfect colors to match my Thousand Sons. A new level I tell you!

Space Wolves (More Old Stuff)
Here are pictures of some of my Space Wolves (Boo! Hiss!!). I'm pretty proud of them barring some of the inconsistent paint jobs. These are from my first 40K army that I started about 6 years ago.
I super lazy about putting decals on, so that's why a couple of these figures don't have chapter markings.
I'm a huge fan of using Mordhiem "beardy" heads for space wolves. I think they look much more Space Wolf-like than the standard Space Wolf heads.
This was the first time I had used Green Stuff. I Sculpted some additional hair on this Mini.
The Green Stuff mohawk is more visible in this picture.

So Close
I just glued the backpacks on my Thousand Sons last night. I'm presently in the stage of miniature painting that I hate: Touching up details.
There aways seems to be some little detail that I miss. For example, after painting gold on the bolters, I switched to paint the tubing on the backpacks, helmets, and chests. The I noticed that there were some spikes on the legs of one guy that I missed. So I had to go back to my gold still on my palette before if dried out and paint these tiny little spikes. I did that and then realized that some of the Thousand Sons shoulder pads and bolter arms have tiny jewels on them. Now what would have been the easiest thing to have done was paint those when I painted the eyes since they're the same color. Now I have to pull out my seldom-used greens to paint some jewels.
Ok enough complaining! I'm almost done with my first squad and I couldn't be happier.
