Bear with me people. Still learning the new camera. These Bloodletters look better than this picture lets on. Now I just have to figure out what setting I had it on when I took that last set of pictures.

Scott, try this trick since you have a light box set up.
Set camera on auto/ macro, use small tripod and your 2 sec timer
get a handheld light any lamp or whatever 100 watts is more the sufficent...60 would work...
hold the light above the camera lens. Take some shots if you don't light try moving the handheld light around this much easier than trying manually get the aperture right in poorly lit enviroments..I do the quick and dirty hand held light on tons of my photos...as opposed to manually adjusting setting over and over..

I've been really struggling with my pictures since I took my desk apart to make room for the crib. The lamp I had on my desk was great. Perfect light everytime it seemed. I have that lamp set up in my living room, but I never think of going in there to do my pictures.
The other thing that you might want to take a look at is your white balance settings. Some of these pics look fairly yellow... You might trying setting the white balance to adjust for this. I have found that the "tungsten" setting on my camera, gets things about perfect, then small adjustments are made in photoshop (levels adjustment).
