I've been making a point of trying to post every Friday (or Thursday if I was away from a computer on that day). Unfortunately, I sort of blew my load earlier since I posted that big update on Tuesday.
So today, for consistency sake, is a painting tip for you.
The Painting Notebook!
A lot of people like to keep a notebook in their painting area to keep track of their painting projects. It's a good place to make lists of tasks that you can cross out as they're completed. It's also a good place to take notes on painting "recipes" so that you can re-create them later.
I only mention this because is used to be really good about writing in my notebook every time I mixed a new color or decided on what colors I was going o paint a particular area.
Then I got lazy and can't for the life of me remember how I did certain things previously. This is problem since I'm on my second unit of Thousand Sons and I can't remember how I did certain parts of the first unit. Luckily I have this blog. Now I just have to go back and search it for my old gold recipe. Still, if I had just kept up on that damned notebook...
Anyway, that's my tip of the week! There may be more next week.
In the meantime remember, if you're working on a very long term project where you can potentially forget something important later down the road, take notes!

I need a notebook for my painting area. Mostly for paint mixes, I hate it when I forget what the mix of a color I need is. Grrr...
So do I, and if you paint as slow as I do, it could be a very long time since you last mixed that magic batch.
I've got a few paint lists from years ago that I keep going back to for my IG and chaos armies. Problem is I keep losing the notes, I should just blog them & have a permanent record.
Funny, I had a "how the hell did I do that before?" moment just the other day, great advice on the note book. I also got myself some W&N K Series 7 Brushes more good advice- Keep up the tips!

Now I'm going back and painting more Orks for the first time in over a year and I have no idea how exactly I got my color scheme for the first batch that I painted in '05.
hey, your paint scheme is wicked, any chance you could give us a quick step by step guide, like is the midnight blue pinted all over the blue area? or just painted in lines like the other highlightes. sorry if u have answered this sort of question before and i have missed it.

The first layer is midnight blue painted like a base coat.
The highlight layers are Regal blue, Enchated blue and finally ice blue.
Only the three highlight layers are painted in the lining/ hatching method. The midnight blue goes all the way to the edge of the blue areas. It's very dark, so it doesn't show up very much.
